Sioux Lookout Candidates on Aboriginal Issues

Municipal candidates in Sioux Lookout debated First Nations issues at an all-candidates forum Wednesday night.
Susan Williams is running for Mayor and says she wants to keep open dialogue with First Nations and work with them on economic development.
Doug Lawrence is also vying for the Mayor’s seat and says he see’s untapped potential.
He would like to develop a strong working relationship with the Nishnawbe-Aski First Nation.
Third Mayoral candidate Dennis Leney says business relations between the Municipality and First Nations are strong but can be enhanced even more.
On the Council front; Candidate John Bath says he wants to keep working with aboriginals and Joyce Timpson says she wants to develop business relations with First Nations.
Herb Zettel says if any decision involving First Nations is good for the taxpayer, he’s all for it.
Tony Derose says he has been working with area First Nations since 1955 and he won’t stop now.
Sharon Schinke, Doug Squires and David Gordon were the other Council candidates that took part in the session.
David Allen is also in the running for Council.
