Sioux Lookout Councillor Excited About New Position

A Sioux Lookout Councillor is beyond ecstatic to get started after being elected to an important position.

Yolaine Kirlew has been selected to sit as the third vice-president for the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.

Kirlew says she’s excited to bring a rural northern voice to the table.

She says it’s important to have our issues presented with an urban-centred organization.

Kirlew notes her priority is ensuring youth are connected to the political process and their voice can be heard.

She also says she hopes to get more diverse women and youth into municipal politics as well as making reconciliation a priority.
