Sioux Lookout Hunting Trip Results In Fines

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry continues its campaign to ensure safe hunting in our area.

Three men have been fined following a hunting expedition on Race Lake Road north of Sioux Lookout last September.

Court heard that conservation officers discovered that Douglas Ferguson of Thunder Bay shot a bull moose down the road and into a blind corner.

Ferguson and two others loaded the animal and moved it to another location to hide the fact it was shot down the road.

He has been ordered to pay $5,500 for using a firearm carelessly to hunt and $2,000 for obstructing a conservation officer.

Ferguson has also been banned from hunting for one year.

James Walters of Simcoe and Randal Kenning of Winnipeg were fined $1,000 each for transporting unlawfully killed wildlife.
