The Mayor of Sioux Lookout is seeking the Liberal candidacy for the Kiiwetinoong riding.
Doug Lawrance says he sees this opportunity to bring the shared goals and unique challenges of the region to Queen’s Park.
Lawrance also says that not only is the area unique in its challenges, but he mentions that the region has tremendous unrealized potential as the riding covers 30 percent of the province and includes 33 First Nations and four Municipalities.
He also mentions his involvement in the area as an engineer for over 25 years before he was elected as mayor in 2014.
Lawrance decided to enter the race after talks with family, friends, and regional leaders as well as receiving encouragement from Order of Canada recipient Garnet Angeconeb.
Finally, he believes he will be an effective advocate and representative of the people and communities of the entire riding as its Member of Provincial Parliament.
