Sioux Lookout OPP Soon To Have New Home

Its a step from the present to the future of policing in Sioux Lookout.
Wednesday, the sod was turned at the site of the new Sioux Lookout OPP Detachment, located at the corner of fourth avenue and Queen Street.
Staff Sgt. Doug Squires has over thirty years of policing experience and calls the day an overwhelming one.
Squires says the project has been on again and off again for the past twenty years.
He adds the 2.6-million dollar facility is scheduled to be completed next summer, marking an end to more than fourty years in the present building.
Squires says the new detachment will be unique and like no other in the province.
It will have more then twice the number of cells.
