Sioux Lookout Victorious in Appeal

A major court victory for the Municipality of Sioux Lookout.
The Ontario Court of Appeal has ruled that Pelican Falls Road and Goodie Lake Road, also known as Lac Seul Road, are not Municipal roads.
The long-standing issue started in 1998 when annexation occurred, handing over responsibility of maintenance over to Sioux Lookout.
The Ontario Court of Justice determined the Municipality was in fact responsible for the road’s, prompting an appeal.
Sioux Lookout won the appeal last Friday.
Town CAO Merlin Dewing says he’s extremely pleased with the outcome, noting it will save the Municipality hundreds of thousands of dollars a year.
