The Town of Sioux Narrows-Nestor Falls has declared a state of emergency.
That’s in response to a storm that caused significant damage last Sunday night and early Monday morning.
The town says a super cell storm and possible tornado in the Nestor Falls area is to blame.
The hardest hit areas include Caliper Lake Provincial Park, the downtown core of Nestor Falls, in and around the
Sabaskong Bay area of Lake of the Woods, including Sabaskong Bay Road, as well as islands in this vicinity.
The town has also put in an urgent request for a private contractor assist with clearing Sabaskong Bay Road.
Given the extent of the damage, the emergency management team has made an urgent request to the Provincial Emergency
Operations Centre to deploy provincial forestry/fire crews to assist residents and businesses at the epicenter.
