Rain – A Lot Of Rain

It was forecasted and Mother Nature delivered it with quick brutal force causing flooding and washouts in Sunset Country yesterday.

Rain. Lots and lots of rain in a short period of time.

According to weather enthusiast Joel Allen of Dryden, his weather station filled with 82.3mm of rain in just over 13 hours yesterday! No wonder drainage systems couldn’t keep up. Here’s a couple of videos sent to me by Joel from around the Dryden Rec Complex. Click on the links to view.

At the time of writing this highway 17 near Richard Lake close to Kenora was impassable. Washed out!

Theil Road in the Dryden area also washed out last night. Here’s a video from Karen Antoine from last night of Theil Road and a follow up video from Jean Allan of what that section looks like this morning.

The rain accumulated very quickly yesterday. Here’s a picture yesterday of Van Horne Avenue near St. Charles Street – Photo by Valoree Mackinnon.
