SIU Clears OPP Officer In Sioux Lookout

The Ontario Special Investigations Unit has cleared a Provincial Police officer in Sioux Lookout of any criminal wrongdoing after looking into an October, 2016 incident.

A 45-year-old man filed a complaint indicating he was assaulted by an OPP constable.

The man claimed he had been drinking, when an officer grabbed him, knocked him down and kicked him in the ribs, breaking two of them.

The SIU determined that there was no force used in the arrest and the officer didn’t cause the injury, noting it could have easily occurred prior to the arrival of police due to his state of sobriety.

The final ruling is there are no reasonable grounds to lay charges against the officer.
