The Ontario Special Investigations Unit has released information on an incident in the Dryden area.
Provincial Police say they were called to a weapons complaint on Richan Road in Wainwright Township around 4:30 Wednesday afternoon.
The SIU says officers arrested a 61-year-old man as a result of a disturbance.
The accused was transported to the OPP Detachment where he was lodged in a cell.
The SIU says when the man complained of pain, he was taken to hospital where he was diagnosed with a serious injury.
Officials are now investigating.
The SIU looks into reports involving police where there has been a death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
