Smart Meter Debate At Queen’s Park

The opposition remain on the attack at Queens Park over the Auditor’s report saying money has been wasted in the rollout of smart meters in the province.
Both the NDP and the PC’s are calling for the resignation of Energy Minister Bob Chiarelli.
The report suggests the smart meter program has cost $1-billion more than projected by the provincial government and has not resulted in any significant cost savings.
NDP Leader Andrea Horwath called Chiarelli incompetent.
Chiarelli says he’s not going anywhere.
He says he doesn’t agree with the findings in the report and notes right now they have a “professional disagreement.”
Premier Kathleen Wynne defended Chiarelli saying it’s not unusual for governments to disagree over auditor reports.
