The Northwestern Health Unit will be working with six large companies in the region on a smoke-free pilot project for their employees.
The Health Unit has partnered with Weyerhaeuser in Dryden and Ear Falls, Goldcorp in Red Lake, Trus-Joist in Kenora and Abitibi-Consolidated in Fort Frances on the smoke-free initiative.
Jennifer McKibbon is a spokesperson for the Health Unit and says their goal is to prepare businesses for the new province-wide smoking ban which goes into effect next spring.
