Smoking Ban Hearing Update

The lawyer representing businesses in the District continued to grill Dr. Pete Sarsfield over the legality of the smoking ban in Toronto this morning.
Berdt Richard asked the Medical Officer of Health if enough education was given before inspectors began enforcement.
Richard went on to claim that the Health Unit had no right to lay notices when they represent such a small population, and no other Health Unit has tackled the issue.
Sarsfield argued that its not a population issue, but a health one.
The hearing ended Thursday afternoon, and will resume in June.
