Smoking By-law Nixed

A blow in the Northwestern Health Units campaign to establish a smoke free by-law throughout Sunset Country.
Emo town council will not be passing the smoke-free by-law as requested by the local health unit.
The motion was defeated as only one councillor supported the proposed by-law.
Emo Reeve, Russ Fortier says they dont have the resources to police local businesses and they would have problems enforcing it.
To date, no municipality in the district has passed a by-law to ban smoking in all public places.
Dryden, Atikokan and Kenora continue to meet with smoke free coalitions on the issue.
