Snow and Sloppy Driving Across Dryden Area

In the words of Environment Canada “The storm is here.”

A Winter Storm Warning that was put in place over 24 hours ago, materialized as scheduled late this morning across much of the area between and south of Dryden and Kenora.

In an update, Environment Canada says:

“Snow has moved into Northwestern Ontario west of Sioux Lookout as expected, and will reach the Sioux Lookout area by early this afternoon.

The snow will become heavy at times this afternoon and evening. Snowfall accumulations of 15 to 25 cm are likely by Tuesday morning. Gusty northeast winds to 50 km/h will produce some blowing snow in exposed areas as well.

There is also a risk of brief freezing rain tonight in the Sioux Narrows to Dryden areas.

Driving conditions will quickly deteriorate this afternoon as the snow starts to accumulate.

This snowfall warning may need to be expanded to include other regions as additional information becomes available.”
