Snowfall Warning Issued by Environment Canada

Environment Canada is predicting a return to winter for much of the area, starting tomorrow (Monday) morning. A Snowfall Warning is in effect for Dryden – Vermilion Bay – Kenora – Sioux Lookout and Ear Falls. Environment Canada predicts a significant late season snowfall event is appearing more likely for Monday and Monday night. Snow is expected to develop on Monday and become heavy at times in the afternoon and evening. Snowfall accumulations of 15 to 20 cm are likely by Tuesday morning. Gusty northeast winds to 50 km/h will produce some blowing snow as well. There is also a risk of some freezing rain in some areas. This snowfall warning may need to be expanded to include other regions as additional information becomes available. Other area communities remain under a Special Weather Statement predicting winter conditions with less snow. That includes Red Lake, Fort Frances and Atikokan. (Sunday 8:26 pm)
