Solidarity Ceremony in Big Trout Lake

First Nation leaders from across the North will be in Big Trout Lake
Thursday for a solidarity ceremony in support of the KI First Nation.
The Reserve remains at odds with mining company Plantinex over
exploration plans on their traditional land.
Band Spokesperson John Cutfeet says although they have been forced to
abandoned their legal fight due to a lack of funds, they aren’t backing
down.
Platinex officials were in Court Wednesday seeking a
contempt order against the KI First Nation.
They claim the reserve is not honouring a recent court ruling however
Cutfeet says Platinex hasn’t lived up to its end of the bargain and
notes the First Nation still needs to be consulted on exploration plans on
their traditional territory.
