Some Help For Nishnawbe Aski Police

Some new recruits for the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service.

18 students have just graduated from the Ontario Police College in Orillia.

Of the new grads, six are aboriginal candidates.

They join seven experienced officers who have been with the northern service since December.

The Nishnawbe Aski Nation says the new recruits bring its compliment of officers up to 160, but note that’s still 35 short of the number recommended in the last agreement with the federal and provincial levels of government.

The officers will spend two weeks training at the NAPS headquarters in Thunder Bay before being sworn in on April 20th.
