NDP MPP Michael Mantha is calling on the provincial Liberals to address health inequities in our area.
Mantha says new research shows people in northern Ontario face nearly double the level of cardio-vascular health issues than those in the Greater Toronto Area.
The paper suggests cardio-vascular problems are higher in this region because access to preventative health care services are harder to come by.
Mantha stresses this should be a wake-up call for the government.
Health Minister Eric Hoskins says their goal is to ensure residents living in any part of Ontario have access to the same health services and says a program for cardio-vascular patients in northwestern Ontario was announced a couple of years ago.
