Soon Cost You More To Hail A Cab In Dryden

As gas prices go down, taxi rates are going up in Dryden.
Council has approved rate increases.
As of February 1st, the starting rate will become $4.60, with an incremental increase of 23-cents per 100-metres.
That amounts to an 18% increase.
City staff says the rate change puts Dryden at a more comparative level with other municipalities in northwestern Ontario.
The hike is due to operating costs, minimum wage increases and current economic factors.
The changes were requested by George’s Taxi, but also apply to two other small taxi operators who were recently approved by Council.
