Southern Ontario Man In Critical Condition Following Diving Excursion

An underwater diving incident on the north shore of Lake Superior has left a southern Ontario man in critical condition.

Provincial Police say 52-year-old Scott Stitt, of Burlington, was with a group of divers exploring a shipwreck off of Neys Provincial Park east of Terrace Bay last week.

Constable Peter Birten says Stitt encountered problems, either with his gear or his health, became unconscious, and then floated to the surface.

Birten says he was brought to shore, but regained consciousness when first responders performed CPR.

Stitt was transported to the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital and then to a Burlington hospital.
