Smoke Reducing Visibility, Impacting Air Quality

A special air quality statement continues today for the entire Northwest region due to ongoing forest fires.

Poor air quality, along with very low visibility at times, is expected for areas closer to the fires.

According to 511 Northwestern Ontario, visibility is reduced on Highway 105 north of Ear Falls and in the Red Lake area.

Smoke is coming from active fires in the northwest as well as eastern Manitoba and is expected to last at least into Thursday.

Those most at risk include children, seniors and those with cardiovascular or lung disease such as asthma.

Individuals may experience symptoms such as increased coughing, throat irritation, headaches or shortness of breath.
