Stan Beardy Still Leading NAN

Stan Beardy has won his fourth consecutive term as grand chief of the Nishnawbe-Aski Nation.
He was re-elected Wednesday during NAN’s annual general assembly in Chapleau.
It’s the first time a NAN grand chief has claimed four, 3-year terms in a row.
Beardy suggests that one of the biggest issues he’ll have to deal with is the growing spread of the H1N1 virus in first nation communities.
He won the election on the second ballot.
Beardy, a member of Muskrat Dam First Nation, won 26 of the votes from NAN’s 49 First Nation community chiefs.
He beat out deputy-grand chief Alvin Fiddler by six votes.
