A doctor at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto believes the current CPR guidelines aren’t appropriate for Northwestern Ontario.
Aaron Orkin says hands-only CPR may not be the best method communities where the person has to wait more then a few minutes for an ambulance.
Orkin says municipalities and the government need to work together to develop guidelines that are more appropriate for Dryden and remote Northern communities where it may take hours for help to arrive.
However Orkin stresses that CPR is important for everyone, and hands-only compression is better then not doing anything.
