The opening of the American border to live Canadian cattle may not be
the only answer to help Northwestern Ontario farmers.
Looking beyond the traditional U.S. market is something Regional
Cattle Farmer Kim Jo Bliss believes farmers should look at.
The Province is also looking at building an abattoir but Bliss says
farmers don’t have the money to pay for one right now.
The prolonged closure of the American border coupled with an extremely
wet growing season has resulted in a miserable year for local farmers.
