A union official says concessions by workers are not the answer to troubles in Northwestern Ontario’s wood and paper mills.
Joe Hanlon of the United Steelworkers says mills are closing, no matter how deep workers dig into their pockets to help save their jobs.
Hanlon says they have looked at concessions at several operations including McKenzie and Longlac with no success.
He adds the softwood lumber deal is preventing Government’s from taking action.
