Still no environmental issues impacting Rainy River following the acid spill at Packaging Corporation of America’s mill in International Falls two weeks ago.
Pam Tomevi of the Koochiching Soil and Water District says they have been conducting comprehensive testing and water sampling and have found no adverse conditions.
She notes officials were on-site immediately after the spill was reported.
Tomevi says they recently noticed bubbling in the river, but it’s not certain if it was linked to the spill.
She doesn’t believe it is, but stresses they will continue to follow up on the discovery.
