Stockwell day visits northwest (really)

Canada’s Public Safety Minister says he has spoken to American officials at the highest levels about entry problems for some visitors to northwestern Ontario.

Stockwell Day paid a short visit to Kenora this morning to address about 70 Conservative party members.

Day says he met with U.S. president George W. Bush this week in Montebello, Quebec to discuss the issue.

Day says the biggest thing is communicating to border agents about old Drinking Under the Influence Charges, which have kept some American Tourists out of Canada.

N001 Q: …allowed in. (18 secs.)

Day says the government also talked to American officials about passport requirements to cross the border next year, but admits they haven’t make a lot of headway on that issue yet.
