Canada’s Public Safety Minister says he would like to border crossing agents ease up on American tourists with old Driving Under the Influence records.
Stockwell Day was in Kenora this morning to meet with Conservative party members.
He says he spoke with U.S. president George Bush about the issue this week, when he was in Montebello, Quebec, and promised the government would continue to work on the issue.

Day says he has heard about the complaints in northwestern Ontario, about American Tourists being turned back at the border for old drunk driving charges, and is worried U.S. border agents may start doing the same thing to Canadian travellers if the issue isn’t resolved.
