Everything has come full circle for Balmertown’s Eric Radford.
The Canadian figure skating great has returned home to a heroes welcome, with Mine Road being re-named Eric Radford Way.
Radford says he can’t thank the community enough for their support.
He says everything that has happened in his career has occured because of the backing of the entire Red Lake area community.
Radford calls the recognition “surreal”, noting he’s always been proud to represent the area.
He notes growing up in a small town gives you a different and broader perspective on things.
He will stay in the Red Lake area for the next few days with fiance Luis Fenero for some fishing and some rest and recreation.

It’s an incredible honour to have a street named after me in my hometown! Not only that, it’s the street I grew up on. So cool! #Balmertown #Proud #hometownglory #Northernontario #smalltownboy #figureskater #olympian #redlake #thankyou #hometown pic.twitter.com/8pFOImre0o
