Students Will Enjoy Longer Summer Break

Students in the public and separate school boards in the region will get to enjoy a longer summer break this year.
The Keewatin-Patricia District School Board has approved a draft calender for the next school year and classes will not begin until after Labour Day.
Director of Education Dave Mcleod says the decision to delay the start of the school year was made in consultation with the Catholic school boards in the region.
He adds teachers also felt it was a good idea since many students do not return to school until after Labour Day anyway.
Traditionally, classes in the district have begun during the last week of August.
