The Keewatin-Patricia District School Board isn’t pouring cold water on a study calling for later school start times.
The study indicates that early times for classes negatively impacts student productivity and even leads to depression.
Director of Education Sean Monteith says they did consider the move at one point in Red Lake but notes they never followed up.
Monteith suggests the Board would be open to studying later start times.
He says there’s evidence that starting later in the day is beneficial for the learning brain, especially for adolescent males.
