Vaccine Changes At Schools

Ontario’s Immunization of School Pupils Act has changed.
The ISPA has added that children between the ages of 4-17 attending school must get a vaccine for Chicken Pox, Whopping Cough and Meningitis.
Northwestern Health Unit Spokesperson Karen Kulchyski says if parents don’t get their child immunized they can file for a medical exemption or a religious exemption.
Forms for both are available at local Health Unit offices.
The changes have been made to improve health and safety of school children as these three diseases can easily spread in schools.
