A new study has found benefits to staying on blood thinner medication.
Cardiologist Dr. David Marr says the medication will reduce the chances of having a second heart attack or stroke.
Don Clark is a heart attack survivor and he says he still lives a normal life on the medication.
More than 84,000 Canadians will have a heart attack this year and of those one in five will have a second heart attack, stroke or die by 2018.
Findings from the study showed patients reduced their risk of a heart attack, stroke or death by up to 16%.
