The President of the Canadian Federation of Municipalities is applauding the Trudeau Government’s ten year housing strategy with the promise of $40-billion.
The plan calls for the building of 100,000 new affordable housing units, along with repairing 300,000 affordable housing units.
The aim is to reduce chronic homelessness by 50%.
Jenny Gerbasi feels the commitment is a breakthrough.
Gerbasi stresses a number of affordable housing units are well past their acceptable due dates.
She says they want to see livable and healthier communities.
Gerbasi adds the strategy will help put a roof over the head of thousands of Canadians.
The funding is contingent on the Liberals getting re-elected in the next Federal vote.
