Supreme Court Overturns Laws Against Assisted Suicide

It’s being dubbed a victory for human rights.
The Supreme Court of Canada has overturned laws banning doctor assisted suicide in the country.
It means adults who are mentally competent and suffering with a terminal or incurable illness will have a choice on how and when their life will end with the help of a doctor.
It was a unanimous and ground breaking decision by the Supreme Court.
The high court is giving the federal government a year to write up legislation.
Recent polls suggested a vast majority of Canadians are in favour of doctor assisted suicide.
In releasing its decision, the Court alsosuseded its ruling for 12 months to give the Government time to prepare Legislation.
