An adult black bear has been killed by Parks Canada staff and Ministry of Natural Resources conservation officers in Pukaskwa National Park’s backcountry, where a Michigan tourist was attacked by a bear on Friday.
A Park Canada spokesperson says the female bear matches the physical and behavioural description provided by the victim.
Tests are being conducted to determine if the killed bear matches evidence collected from the scene.
Until its confirmed that this was the bear responsible, officials say the Park’s backcountry will remain closed.
