Two Losses For Kenora Thistles

The struggles continue for the Kenora Under-18 ‘AAA’ Thistles.

Kenora lost both of their games on the weekend; 16-3 to the Winnipeg Wild and 8-2 to the Winnipeg Thrashers.

Dryden’s Evan Armit had three goals in the series, while Ben Hackl recorded three assists.

The Thistles have lost 14 straight games.

Hockeyville 2020 Entries Now Accepted

Communities Build Hockey and Hockey Builds Communities.

That’s the main theme behind Kraft Hockeyville 2020.

Matt Bruce is the Senior Brand Manager for Kraft Heinz and he says nominations for the annual title and a chance to win $250,000 in arena upgrades are now being accepted.

Bruce says all you have to do is answer three simple questions.

“Depict your communities spirit and passion for hockey. Importance of your arena and how the prize money will be used. Why should your community be Kraft Hockeyville”.

Bruce says “Upload a photo, a video, a supportive message or share your communities story on Twitter and those all add up to points that can also help your communities chance of being named Kraft Hockeyville 2020.”

The winner will also host an NHL Exhibition Hockey game.

The deadline to enter a submission is February 9th.

Golden Moment For Dryden Yellowjackets

A Gold medal performance for the Dryden Under 15 Yellow Jackets at a recent tournament in Fort Frances.

The Yellow Jackets recorded a 4-1 record before winning the Championship game against Fort Frances.

Kade Bruyere scored for Dryden, while Sophie Armit potted the winning goal.

The Dryden Under 15 ‘A’ Yellow Jackets hockey team had an exciting and successful tournament this past weekend while competing in Fort Frances, ultimately bringing home the gold medal.
The team went 4 and 1 while overcoming some adversity with the loss of 2 players in round robin and semi-final action.
The championship game pitted Dryden vs. Fort Frances in a hard fought and exciting game to watch.
Dryden fell behind 1-0 early on in the first but then Kade Bruyere of the Yellow Jackets tied it up with a beautiful slap shot from just inside the blue line.
The go ahead and game winning goal was scored by Sophie Armit on a nice shot from a rebound in the third.
Sydney Cloutier was outstanding in net throughout the weekend.
All Yellow Jacket players played excellent and showed tremendous perseverance and discipline in helping their team win the gold medal.
