Teacher Unions Protesting

Teachers are expected to rally today in Thunder Bay and at Queen’s Park to protest legislation to freeze their wages and cut benefits.
It was introduced in the legislature yesterday.
The bill also bans lockouts and strikes over the next few years.
Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario head Sam Hammond says they’ll fight it in the courts.
Hammond says their members feel betrayed by the government.
The Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation has postponed its strike votes, but president Ken Coran says teachers are questioning whether to do volunteer duties.
Coran says teachers are questioning why they should volunteer their time when they aren’t being respected by the Province.
