A potential terrorism-related attack in the City of Edmonton.
Police were called to the downtown area of Jasper Avenue after midnight Edmonton time.
Police are reporting the suspect is the same man who driving a white Malibu earlier in the evening drove through a barrier outside Edmonton Common Wealth Stadium following a football game and drove at a high speed into a police officer and then got out of a car and repeatedly stabbed him.
Shortly after midnight Police later stopped a U-haul for a traffic violation and identified the driver’s name as being similar to the registered owner of the Malibu.
A chase ensued and the U-Haul deliberatly attempted to hit people in crosswalks and in alleys along Jasper avenue area, injuring four pedestrians.
The truck flipped and the driver was taken into custody and police say the two incidents are related and are considered acts of terrorism because the investigation found an ISIS flag inside the Malibu.
