Texting And Driving Becoming A Major Concern

Some alarming stats in a new survey on texting and driving among High School students.
The survey found that 46% of grade 12 students in Ontario text and drive, while one-third of all High School students do so as well.
Sergeant Shelley Garr is with the OPP in northwestern Ontario and she says police are concerned with the statistic.
She says the practice is deeply engrained in today’s driving culture and police need to change that.
Garr says they will continue their local distracted driving education campaign and will beef up enforcement.
The fine for using a handheld phone or an entertainment device while driving is $280.
On a more positive note in the study, fewer students are drinking and driving.
