Whether it’s white sugar, honey or coconut sugar, they all affect your body the same.
Registered Dietician with the Northwestern Health Unit, Julie Slack, says they all have the same nutritional value, with 16 calories per teaspoon.
Slack says high intakes of sugar are linked with higher calorie intake, which then tends to increase our weight and then may lead to us being at risk for chronic diseases.
Slack adds sugar does not cause diabetes, but having too much can increase your chances.
