An explosive third period was the difference as the Dryden Eagles Girls High School hockey team posted a 5-2 victory over the Beaver Brae Broncos in Kenora Tuesday.
The Eagles spotted the Broncos a 2-0 lead before scoring four times in the final frame.
Coach Tim Getson says every line was playing hard and they received a great showing from their defence and goaltender.
The Broncos were playing with only nine skaters, and Getson says the key was to wear down the opposition.
Liv Carter led the way with a pair of goals, while Leah Balla, Rachel Getson and Martina Wintle added singles.
C.J. Jolicoeur made 19-saves.
In Boys High School Hockey, the Queen Elizabeth Warriors couldn’t pull off the upset, losing 10-3 to the Broncos in Kenora.
The Fort Frances Muskies clobbered the St. Thomas Aquinas Saints 11-0.
