The Kenora ‘AAA’ Midget Thistles hockey team almost coughed up a huge lead to hold on for a 6-5 win over the visiting Eastman Selects Wednesday night.
The Thistles led 6-2 after two periods of play, but the Selects stormed back to make it close right up to the final buzzer.
Dryden’s Matthew Pitchenese recorded a goal and three assists, while Graham Oliphant added a helper.
Hunter Buzzi of Ignace scored a pair of goals.
The Thistles are back home Saturday and Sunday for a pair of games against the Central Plains Capitals
