Thunder Bay Flood Prompts Changes At Red Cross

It’s being described as the worst disaster to ever hit Thunder Bay but it has resulted in some positive changes for emergency groups.
The Lakehead was hit with massive flooding last year and it came with a $15-million price-tag to clean up.
Mike Morton is the Director of Disaster Management for the Canadian Red Cross and he says they learned that they had to be proactive in helping those affected.
Morton says it became evident that emergency crews couldn’t sit back and wait for flood victims to come to them.
Morton notes the Red Cross will now strive to seek out those at a greater risk and use new means in doing so.
Morton says they are currently looking at the use of social media and new technology.
