Thunder Bay could be the latest Canadian City to establish a safe injection drug site.
A study update was presented to the Board of Health Wednesday.
It focused on where people are injecting, the type of drugs being used, social needs as well as health needs.
Bonnie Krysowaty of the Lakehead Social Planning Council says they are currently more than halfway through a study on the proposal with interviews slated for next month with about 100 to 200 local users.
Krysowaty says they need to get a picture of what services are needed, or if a safe site is even required.
Currently the only two sites in Canada are in Vancouver, however Toronto and Ottawa are also investigating the move.
