A Thunder Bay man is in hospital in that city after suffering serious injuries in a collision involving a chip truck and a snowplow near Ignace yesterday.
OPP say 50-year-old John Nicholson, who was the driver of a chip truck, was taken by land ambulance to Upsala where he was airlifted to hospital in Thunder Bay.
Police say a westbound chip truck attempted to pass a snowplow on the right of a set of passing lanes on Highway 17 near Ravine Lake.
The chip truck hit the side of the snowplow, lost control and landed in the ditch, blocking the eastbound lane.
The snowplow driver, from Ignace, was not hurt in the collision.
Traffic was reduced to one lane for several hours while the scene was cleaned up.
