Thunder Bay Police Chief’s Resignation Doubtful

Calls for Thunder Bay Police Chief JP Levesque to resign because of the Stacy DeBungee investigation don’t appear to have precedence in the province.

Ron Bain is the Executive Director of the the Ontario Police Chiefs Association and tells us it’s been his 40 year experience that, flawed investigations or not, the resignation of a chief is something that usually doesn’t happen.

Bain understands that people may not be happy with how an investigation was handled but you have to leave it to the laws that govern the police force.

He adds senior officers typically investigate minute details of an investigation.

In 2016, Police Chief Levesque told the CBC’s 5th Estate he doesn’t micromanage his investigators.
