The organization responsible for running a national inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls needs two more years to complete their mandate.
They have formally asked the federal government to extend their initiative to December 31st, 2020.
Officials feel more families and people want to share their stories and the extra time will allow them to do that.
