The black bear hunting season has opened in Northwestern Ontario.
As part of a sustainable wildlife management program, the Province
extended the fall hunt by 2-weeks in 2004, setting a closing date of October
31st.
The Government has also allowed resident hunters to buy a second bear
seal in areas that boast healthy populations.
The Ministry of Natural Resources says resident and non-resident
hunters are harvesting the same number of bears as were harvested 10-years
ago.
